ABOUT US

OUR STORY

After 9/11, a couple of churches made it an effort to plant a church near Ground Zero. This led to Messiah's Reformed Fellowship: a light of hope in the shadow of the greatest evil ever perpetrated on an American city. On February 2, 2003, Rev. Paul T. Murphy conducted MeRF's first Lord's Day worship service. Since then Messiah's Reformed Fellowship has moved to different locations around the city to proclaim the Gospel.

BIBLICAL, CONFESSIONAL, AND MISSIONAL

A Christ-centered and God-exalting Church. In our distracted, depressed, disillusioned, and debauched world is your life anchored on the only everlasting hope Jesus Christ? Come and hear about the grace God has exhibited to sinners by sending his own Son, who left heavenly glory to embark on the greatest rescue mission the world has ever known.

OUR MISSION

Equipping members to share the love of Christ by reaching out to their neighbors in the metro New York City where they live, work, study and play.

ESSENTIALS TO WORSHIP

Jesus has established his church, and particular churches, to gather and make his people grow, through the preaching of the Word, the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper, and the disciplining of members. These are essential elements to the corporate life of the church because it is through the Word and sacrament that we feast upon Jesus Christ and commune with him. The church must be committed to the Word of God. In worship God speaks to His people, and God's people respond in thanksgiving and adoration for what He has done.

WHY CHURCH IS IMPORTANT?

The church is ruled by Jesus and is his body. It is through the church that the mission of the Triune God is seen. God is actively calling the world to repentance and reconciling sinners to himself. The church isn't a voluntary association that exists for the sake of religious preferences. It is God's family (1 Tim. 3:4-5), it is where you hear the message of salvation and where sinners are saved and discipled and built up into maturity. It is where you hear the voice of Christ, and where the gifts of the Spirit are used, it is God’s new creation, a new humanity of a people who were once enemies of God but have been reconciled to Him through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of his Son—Jesus Christ.

COMMUNITY

Jesus builds up His people through each other as they share in one another gifts, carry one anothers burdens in faithful service and submit to each other in humility. No Christian and no church should be independent because the Bible calls us to be members of a body, a church (1 Cor. 12:12-31) and to commune with one another and live together in love, serving one another. So why bother with it? Well, because Jesus is committed to his church, he shed his blood for it. You can't come to Jesus without coming to his people, and to neglect the church is to neglect Jesus.

WHY WORSHIP MATTERS?

Through the Word of God, the fellowship, prayer and the breaking of bread Christ keeps and sustains his people. God is everywhere present at all times, but He is with His people in a unique way on Sunday when his people assemble together. Every Sunday, we are marked by God' presence, we receive his good Word of promise. We are then reconstituted and re-commissioned to go out into the world and confess and proclaim the work of God—who has drawn near to His people in Jesus Christ, through His Spirit, resurrecting them from spiritual death. Jesus Christ is King and Lord over all of life, so Monday through Saturday we live life for the glory of God in our work, in our neighborhoods, and in all that we do.
